"도시는 나에게 무엇보다 일종의 패턴으로 인식된다.
격자형의 그리드, 그 그리드 블록들을 가득 메우고 있는 네모 반듯한 고층 건물들, 그 건물들을 둘러싸고 있는 수많은 창문들, 광고판, 표지판들 그리고 그 너머로 보이는
프렉털(fractal)처럼 자기 동형적 패턴들이 여러 다른 스케일에서 반복되는 것으로 보인다."

'fish in a pond'는 반복적으로 보여 지는 네모 패턴의 ‘도시 연못’에서 자유롭게 놀고 있는 물고기의 모습을 그리고자 한 것이다. 패턴은 실크스크린 기법으로 처리가 되었고 물고기는 반짝거리는 자개로 만들어졌다.


“Above all, the city is perceived to me as a pattern.
The automorphism-shaped patterns appear to be repeated on different scales, such as grid-shaped grids, square skyscrapers filling the grid blocks, numerous windows surrounding the buildings, billboards, signs and the fractals seen beyond.”

‘fish in a city pond’ is meant to portray a fish playing freely in a square-shaped pond. The pattern was processed by silk screen technique and the fish were made of nacre.
